Scribbles

I want to scribble again after a period of dryness for words. Now that my daughter is eight months old, I can hear the call of ideas shouting inside my head again. Although I have not put my way of expressing a thought into practice, I’m willing to give it another shot. With a bit of luck, I wish to be enthused once more.

What would you do if you saw a married couple fighting in the streets of Manila?

a) Would you ignore the couple and just head to your destination?
b) Would you help stop the fight?
c) Would you go to the nearest police station and report?

My answer to the above query is – I would ignore the couple.

This morning I heard a story about a man who wanted to help a woman being beaten by her fuming husband. Gnashing his teeth, the husband knocked his wife using a piece of hard plastic when this young man passed by and saw the incident. The man couldn't stand what he witnessed and called for the husband's attention. Of course, the husband was furious with the man interfering. And the next thing I know, the man was almost killed by being too kind and brave to help a woman in the street.

Moral lesson: It's ok to be helpful sometimes but not to the point of risking your life.
